Coastal Interior Design
Coastal properties present some of the most exciting interior design opportunities we work on. Whether on the Cornish coast, around Salcombe and South Devon, or along the shores of Norfolk and Suffolk, the setting, the light and the relationship between interior and landscape all call for an approach that responds to place rather than defaulting to convention. We bring the same creative ambition and technical expertise to a home on the coast as we do to any of our London or international projects, with the added consideration of how to design interiors that feel connected to their surroundings without falling into cliche.
Our published Coastal Victorian Villa, a beachfront property near Padstow, involved a complete refurbishment where we restored original features while developing an interior design scheme that subtly reflects its setting through texture, material and colour rather than overt coastal references. The full project can be seen in our portfolio.
We have also completed projects along the North and South Cornwall coasts, each with a very different brief and character. We have strong connections with contractors, craftspeople and suppliers across Devon and Cornwall, and are well practised in balancing remote project management from our London studio with regular site visits at key stages. What unites our coastal work is an understanding that these homes need to feel as considered and well-crafted as any London property, while embracing the qualities that make their location exceptional. Whether it is a holiday home, a permanent residence or a property that moves between the two, we design interiors that make the most of where they sit.
If you have a coastal property and are considering an interior design project, we would welcome a conversation.
We work on coastal properties across Cornwall, Rock, Padstow, Polzeath, Daymer Bay, St Mawes, Fowey, St Ives, Salcombe, Dartmouth, Thurlestone, Dorset, Sandbanks, Lymington, Chichester Harbour, West Wittering, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Burnham Market, Brancaster and Blakeney.
